ORGANIZATION: Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc.

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Founded by Sharon and Jerry Miller of the Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund, Trailways Camp provides camping experiences for adults with disabilities in Southwest Florida. Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. has been the service provider for the Trailways Camps since October 2012 and serves 60 campers annually at our overnight camping sessions. Campers enjoy fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, swimming, campfires, nature walks, and much more at Trailways Camp.

The camp is held at the American Camps Association Accredited Riverside Retreat Center, in LaBelle, Florida.

We are seeking volunteers with ASL skills to assist at least 1 camper at our November 2nd-5th camp session. In order for him to fully enjoy this experience he will need a 1:1 ASL interpreter from morning to night to make sure he is fully integrated and included in all activities.

As his interpreter, your role would be to accompany him to all of his activities which include fishing, nature walks, arts and crafts, a talent show, canoeing, water skiing, and horseback riding. You would get to enjoy all of these activities with this adult camper to the extent that you wish.
