Unconditional love is one of the many gifts the horse!

Volunteers are the foundation of Good Hope Equestrian Training Center, Inc.! Our volunteers range in age from middle school to retirees, and there are many areas in which you can volunteer at Good Hope. You do not have to have horse experience to volunteer at our center. You just have to come willing to learn and experience something new and exciting!

  • Barn volunteers help with cleaning stalls, feeding and general maintenance around the facility.
  • Buddies serve as mentors to assist the staff members in providing additional supports during gardening, fitness and community integration activities to aid the participants in the development of their community integration skills.
  • EAA Lesson volunteers work with horses and riders. They tack up and groom horses, and participate as leaders and side walkers during the sessions.
  • Office volunteers assist with paperwork, database, and aid the GHETC staff with fundraising and community outreach opportunities.
  • Special event volunteers assist us in every area during special events such as Benefit Auction, Special Olympics or other horse shows. Schools, church groups and corporations often assist with special events.

To volunteer, please contact the Good Hope office at (305) 258-2838 or email us at ghetc@bellsouth.net

Mission Statement

The mission of GHETC is to provide children, youth and adults with varying conditions quality programs designed to enhance their independence, personal potential and quality of life. Using the equine as its tool and its 20-acre facility as its classroom, Good Hope is committed to annually expanding program services to meet the educational, recreational and rehabilitative needs of South Florida's culturally diverse, disabled populations.

Description

Good Hope Equestrian Training Center (GHETC) was founded in 1999 with a vision of providing special needs populations with recreational, rehabilitative, educational and community-based training programs that offer opportunities to increase their independence and quality of life. Since its inception, GHETC provided evidence-based equine assisted programming to more than 2,800 children, youth and adults with varying disabilities and those in convalescence from various pathologies. GHETC offers a broad array of specialized programs that today serve approximately 400 clients annually. The goal of each program is to build upon the unique gifts of each consumer, enabling them to successfully improve their body, mind and spirit through the healing powers of the horse.

Our specialized equine assisted activities are developed with a person-centered focus for individuals ages 4 - 65 with various intellectual, physical, sensory and emotional disabilities, including Amputees, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Specific Learning Disabilities (ADD/ADHD), Processing Disorders, Spinal Cerebellum Dysfunction, PostTraumatic Stress Disorder, Spinal Cord Injuries, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Good Hope strives to ensure a positive and therapeutic learning environment tailored to each individual’s wants and needs.
