Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels reduces hunger and food insecurity, and promotes the dignity and Independence of the homebound in the Ann Arbor area who are unable to shop and cook for themselves by delivering nutritiously balanced meals six days a week.
We believe that proper nutrition plays an integral role in one's overall health and recovery from hospitalizations. Food is medicine.
The majority of our meals are delivered by volunteers. A Meals on Wheels volunteer may be the only person a client sees all day.
Volunteers deliver 10-14 meals, taking 1-2 hours to complete a route. Meals are delivered Monday - Saturday. Volunteers pick up meals at 11:30 Mon - Fri and at 10:30 on Saturdays.
Volunteers choose the frequency that they want to volunteer - from once a week to once a month or only as a substitute.
Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels is a community-supported program of the University of Michigan Health System.
