Are you interested in working with a small group of adults to help them improve their English language skills? The majority of students requesting volunteers will be native Spanish speakers, but Spanish is NOT necessary! English instructors will be required to speak entirely in the target language (English) for the duration of the class. Lessons are given through the MATT Foundation curriculum, although each instructor may also find supplemental materials that they believe will help stimulate learning. Upon arrival, the instructor will receive the Teacher Manual for the class, and will read through the notes in order to prepare themselves for class. Everything in the Teacher Manual will be spelled out for them; they simply need to facilitate the lesson. There are abundant resources in the BLC for English instruction including your teacher manual, textbooks, workbooks and other activities and games.
Note: Classes will run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday beginning on May 9 and running through late November. Volunteer instructors are requested to commit to one ESL session per week, for 6 weeks.
