Are you interested in working with a small group of adults to help them improve their English language skills? Come volunteer at the Backside Learning Center! The majority of students in the English course will be native Spanish speakers, but no Spanish is required to teach the class! English instructors will be required to speak entirely in the target language (English) for the duration of the class. The BLC will provide instructors with the appropriate curriculum for the class along with supplemental materials that volunteers are welcome to integrate into lessons to help stimulate learning. There are abundant resources at the BLC for English instruction including your teacher manual, textbooks, workbooks and other activities and games.
Note: We need instructors for classes which run from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Volunteer instructors are requested to commit to one ESL session per week for six weeks.
