Are you committed to sustainable agriculture? Do you wish it was simpler to find humane animal products? Crate Free Illinois has released a free mobile app that allows people to find sustainable and ethically-raised animal products near them, which you can find in the app store by searching "Crate Free Illinois."

We're looking to expand our list of ethical farms and vendors that we feature on the app and we need volunteers to help us with this effort! If you know of a farm that practices sustainable animal production methods, or of a store that buys from such farms, we want to give them more exposure by adding them to our list. We need volunteers to find new farms and vendors that we may not know about, research them to ensure that their animal products are ethically produced, and connect them to us.

About Crate Free Illinois

Location:

PO Box 1002, Huntley, IL 60142, US

Mission Statement

We are an Illinois-based not-for-profit corporation dedicated to improving the welfare of factory farm animals in Illinois. Through our efforts, we aim to: create awareness of extreme and inhumane confinement of food animals on factory farms; educate consumers on how to purchase factory-free meat, dairy, and eggs; and advocate for legislation to eliminate extreme confinement practices.

Description

As Americans, we shower our house pets with love and affection. In Illinois, we have the most comprehensive law in the country to protect dogs and cats. But sadly, factory-farmed animals are the most exploited and least protected group of animals on the planet. As a result they endure mistreatment in ways that are hard to even imagine. And, unfortunately, most meat eaters have no idea of what happens to food animals before they get to the plate.

Crate Free Illinois aims to change that by creating awareness of factory farm abuses, advocating for legislative change and providing consumers with alternative, local sources for meat, chicken, dairy and eggs.

Formed in March 2015, Crate Free Illinois is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. The people who work with Crate Free Illinois are a group of animal lovers (some vegetarian, some not) united by their belief that, in the end, there’s really no difference between cruelty inflicted on a dog, cat, bird, horse, chicken, calf or pig.
