Change a life! Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut has volunteer opportunities teaching adult students English literacy and math skills.
Tutors volunteer once a week for 2 hours and commit to working with our organization for 1 year. Free training is provided for those interested in becomming a tutor. No experience is necessary.
We welcome all prospective tutors 18 and over with a minimum of a high school (or equivalent) degree and good writing and speaking skills.

Position Statement
Literacy Volunteers of Central CT provides instruction, assistance and encouragement to those adult members of our community who want to improve their skills in reading, writing, or speaking English so that they can achieve their work, family, and community goals.
We recruit and train volunteers who tutor and also act as mentors for students that may need help with cultural or societal issues as well as language difficulties.Description
Volunteers are trained to help adults reach their community, work, family, and education goals through English literacy. We serve over 360 students per year from New Britain/Middletown and surrounding towns.
