Mission Statement

On 12 June 1948, President Harry S. Truman signed into law the Woman’s Armed Services Integration Act, allowing women to serve as permanent, regular members of the military. On 16 June 2018, Women’s InnerFitness & Wellness Center/Pink Pearls of Hope Breast Cancer Org. will be commemorating the sacrifices of and the valor displayed by Women Veterans by celebrating the official 70th Annual Women Veterans Day. Pink Pearls of Hope is a community based organization committed to empowering, educating, strengthening, and inspiring hope in women of color to address the disparities in breast cancer knowledge, prevention, and mortality rates. Our focus is on sustained wellness and empowering women to take responsibility for their health by practicing early detection habits and breast cancer prevention through a healthier and holistic lifestyle.

Description

We provide holistic, generation specific education and awareness about breast cancer geared towards women of color ages 18 and older. Our belief is that an informed woman can control the outcome of her own health. There are no guaranteed ways to prevent breast cancer from developing in the body, but we believe through educating women about the risk factors, symptoms, and encouraging them to engage in early detection screenings, we can reduce the disproportionately high mortality rates in women of color. We are raising funds to develop culturally sensitive DVDs, literature, and seminars to educate women about the risk factors, symptoms, and benefits of early detection. We are spreading our message directly to the communities who are often missing comprehensive information about breast cancer through our participation at churches, health fairs, free clinics, community events, colleges, and direct neighborhood distribution.
