Responsibilities

  • Act as the point of contact between the executives and internal/external clients
  • Undertake the tasks of receiving calls, take messages and routing correspondence
  • Handle requests and queries appropriately
  • Maintain diary, arrange meetings and appointments and provide reminders
  • Make travel arrangements
  • Take dictation and minutes and accurately enter data
  • Monitor office supplies and research advantageous deals or suppliers
  • Produce reports, presentations and briefs
  • Develop and carry out an efficient documentation and filing system

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an executive administrative assistant or in other secretarial position
  • Full comprehension of office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Proficiency in English
  • Exemplary planning and time management skills
  • Up-to-date with advancements in office gadgets and applications
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
  • High level verbal and written communications skills
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • High School degree; additional qualification as personal assistant would be considered an advantage
  • The ideal candidate possesses a passion for human service and philanthropy.

Compensation: Internships are unpaid, but we are happy to provide letters of recommendation, references or work with your university so that you can receive credit.

Time Commitment: as needed

ADUD is a non-partisan, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that shall empower diaspora communities worldwide, by engaging and partnering with individuals, businesses, agencies, and institutions in a collaborative effort to heavily contribute to the educational development of Africa and to build a stronger African Union. Our Core Values Through our principal pillars: Help, Educate, Leaders, for Philanthropy (H.E.L.P.), ADUD shall assist our local diaspora communities by effectively connecting people of all ages to local resources, by offering specialized educational programs and workshops, such as job readiness, healthy living and other leadership trainings, by coordinating social and professional networking events, and finally by providing organized opportunities to give back to their local communities and countries.

Description

The mission of ADUD is to enable our African diaspora communities to improve their lives and communities through partnerships, where ever we reside, so that together we stand strong to face some of the education issues and lacks in Africa. ADUD staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, connect people to resources and encourage community collaborations. Our staff and volunteers connect people with the information that they need on topics such as health education, youth, families, welfare and community development using resources and tools that people have come to trust. Our programs are developed in direct response to community input and needs.

In a global view, ADUD understands that for all of the reasons, whether it be for the pursuit of increased economic and civil stability, for increased health and well-being, or if it is to embark on a new job or join a loved one, the 21 st Century African Diaspora "(consists) of people of African origin living outside their country of origin of the continent of Africa, irrespective of their citizenship and nationality, and who are willing to contribute to the development of Africa, starting with African in their local community, their country and to the development of the continent.
