Dolly, Animal Welfare and Retail Icon
My campaign slogan is "Fix" America! and my platform is Spay-Neuter! Spay-neuter saves lives by preventing unwanted kittens and puppies from entering the shelter system and reducing euthanasia rates.

WearWoof, a unique animal welfare organization located in Pittsburgh, PA, is in need of a super amazing "political action committee" to help get our Shop Cat and mascot, Dolly, "elected President."

This summer/fall fundraiser event, with planning kicking off in May, needs creative, energetic, connected, kooky, CAN-DO people to help see it through! Those with experience in web, social media, marketing, PR, political campaigns/fundraising, event planning, or getting people to do stuff are especially desired!

Unfamiliar with WearWoof? Formed in 2012, we serve dozens of local animal shelters and rescues, including Animal Friends, the Animal Rescue League, Hello Bully, Hope Haven Farm Sanctuary, the Western PA Humane Society and many more Partners by providing funding and support through the resale of better women's clothing at our North Hills boutique. The WearWoof Shop is home to Dolly, a brown tabby cat, and former homeless pet, who is an important business leader in both the non-profit and retail sectors.

Each year we have a fundraiser gala, but we are flipping the script this year and going all-out-innovative by launching a campaign to take Dolly all the way to the White House! (Or at least raise tons of dough for our program, the Pittsburgh Spay Neuter Project.)

With a campaign slogan of "Fix" America, Dolly plans to win over the hearts and minds of Pittsburghers and animal-lovers all over the country, if not the world, while enlightening people as to the life-saving potential of spay-neuter and the joys of pet adoption. Providing comic relief from an already tiresome election year, we're sure the introduction of a cat as a Presidential Nominee will make national news.

Our project includes a To Be Announced celebrity Campaign Manager/Spokesperson!!!, crowd-funding, campaign web site, a Super PAC fundraising committee, strategic multi-media marketing and campaigning, yard signs, celebrity, politician and corporate endorsements, a local celeb pitbull running mate, and more, all culminating in her election party in November when we celebrate the first ever CPOTUS!

If you are interested in this six month project, and fit the description of the ideal volunteer above, we can't wait to meet you and introduce you to Dolly! (Unless she's hiding in a box that day. Then we'll just show you her picture.)

Our first campaign meeting is Monday, May 2nd, at 6:30 p.m. in the North Hills area (location to be determined - we'll let you know when you confirm your attendance for the meeting.)

Please note that we seek reliable volunteers that can commit to the campaign and follow through on an assignment. Roles of varying types and time-commitments will be assigned based on volunteer interest and availability.

Mission Statement

WearWoof’s Mission is to establish Pittsburgh as the Middle Atlantic region’s most pet-friendly city by supporting the work of like-minded shelters, rescues and organizations in ending pet homelessness, providing resources and education for responsible pet ownership, and aiding the efforts of small, volunteer based local rescues through the consolidation of information, resources and support.

Description

WearWoof is not a shelter or rescue. We are an animal welfare organization that operates a women’s resale shop. Our goal is to support the work of approved shelters and rescues whose mission is aligned with ours. Although we support the efforts Pittsburgh area Shelter and Rescue Partners of all sizes, we are especially attentive to the needs of smaller rescues and shelters who are big on heart but low on resources. Proceeds from sales at the shop, as well as our other fundraising activities, are directed toward our Shelter and Rescue Partners. These Partners are local groups and organizations that must undergo an application and vetting process before being approved to receive WearWoof funding and support.
