If you’re looking for a fun way to stay fit and to meet people from all over the world, then volunteer as a Trekker for our California Tower! After being closed for 80 years, the Tower was finally opened for visitors in 2015 and there is no better view of San Diego. We would love your help in accompanying our guests on the California Tower Tour as they make their way up to the balcony and learn a bit about Balboa Park’s history along the way.
Our Tower Trekkers facilitate the safety and enjoyment of our guests by accomplishing the following tasks:
- Supporting our tour educators, making sure the group is accounted for and on pace
- Communicating with security via radio
- Checking guests in and orienting them to the tour
Most importantly (after safety, of course), they serve as yet another friendly, encouraging face during the climb up the Tower.
SHIFTS: Currently looking for Evening Summer Tower Trekkers. Monday-Sunday shifts available. Shifts are from 5:15pm-8:30pm. Must commit to at least 2 shifts per month from May to September.
Trekkers must be comfortable interacting with visitors of various backgrounds and must be able to climb up and down eight levels of stairs multiple times during their shift. Don’t worry, the tour stops at every level, so there’s time to catch your breath!
