High school trumpet players needed to commit to serving a minimum of 1 funeral a month for the next year. Each week, funeral assignments are posted available across the OKC Metro area. Students will get excused absences from school when serving during the school day. Saturday and evening funerals are also available.

Our next training workshop is Saturday, May 13th in Oklahoma City.

We are working with the Oklahoma Army National Guard to provide live Taps players as part of the Military Funeral Honors team.

Volunteers receive a KellyMouthpiece for playing in outdoor funerals. Additional incentives such as bugles, college tuition cards through GiftofCollege.com, national volunteer awards, and scholarships are awarded to our most active volunteers.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old, have transportation to funerals, and be currently enrolled in a formal band program.

Mission Statement

We train, support, and recognize high school trumpet players who use their musical gifts to honor military veterans.

Description

The Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps is a service organization for high school trumpet players who use their musical gifts to honor military veterans.

Our main project is volunteering to play Taps at military veterans’ funerals. Due to a shortage of military buglers, many veterans receive an audio recording of Taps. Out of respect for service to our country, we feel that veterans’ final honors are more worthy of a live rendition of our National Song of Remembrance.
