Position Opening: Administrative Assistant (part-time)

Iowa Master Naturalists' mission is to train a corps of adult volunteers in all aspects of Nature thus empowering them to serve in their communities promoting awareness, appreciation and stewardship of the Natural World. It is an Iowa nonprofit and IRS 501c3 organization founded in June 2015.

This new non-profit needs a part-time (10-15 hours/week) Administrative Assistant for 3 months who is familiar with the workings of a non-profit organization, volunteer recruitment and management, and building a long-term sustainable organization. This position has the potential to become permanent after successful grant writing and fundraising.

Duties include:

  • work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors,
  • write grants, research funding opportunities,
  • assist class instructor(s),
  • update website calendar,
  • assist in fundraising (T-shirt sales, Amazon eBookstore, GoodSearch, other),
  • create and publish Newsletter,
  • schedule Speaker Series speakers and fieldtrips,
  • create brochures and flyers,
  • recordkeeping of time, expenses, mileage;
  • recordkeeping of donations, expenses, reimbursements for Treasurer’s report
  • reconcile bank statement, PayPal, WePay, GoodSearch, T-shirt sales for Treasurer’s report
  • schedule and attend monthly meetings, take Minutes,
  • managing volunteers who do
    • social media promotion and advertising (Facebook, Meetup, newspaper events announcements, Press Releases, etc.)
    • staff booth at community events,
    • track volunteer and AT opportunities,
    • recordkeeping of intern Volunteer and AT hours,
  • represent and promote IMN in a positive and engaging manner
  • other tasks as assigned.

The successful candidate will

  • believe in the Mission of Iowa Master Naturalists and have an interest in Nature,
  • be available Monday evenings and 10:00am - noon some Saturdays, June 6 - August 23,
  • have exceptional organizational, time management and communication skills,
  • be able to work with minimal supervision,
  • have computer proficiency in Word, Powerpoint, WordPress, digital image editor,
  • have their own transportation
