Veteran Art and Farm Therapy

Come Learn For Free: Ever wanted to participate in creating and engineering a unique hobbit like house? Here is your opportunity to put your creative energy to use. We delight in car windows mudded into the walls and solar panels on roofs. We provide Clay, Sand, Straw and you provide innovation to make sun dried naturally hardened cottages for campers during the summer. The techniques uses "cob" which comes from British Isles 15th century building material. Many of these buildings are still standing today and waves of "cob" created homes are popping-up in Settle, Florida, Mid-West and now Virginia.

About Us: Veterans Art and Farm Therapy Program is a new charity founded by Stargazer Stables. Its purpose is to provide therapeutic activities to veterans with mental health problems through art, farm, and equine activities. Studies prove that going out in nature decreases anxiety, depression and PTSD. The owner of Stargazer Stables is Sonya Barnes, a graduate from EVMS Art Therapy Program and a current art teacher at Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, VA.

Stargazer Stables is relocating to 8544 New Road in Suffolk, VA. This summer it will host several groups to participate in creating artistic small 12x18 cob cottages for use during the weekend for veterans and during the summer for children campers.
