Development Associate Job Description

Position Summary:

The Disability Allies (DA) is dedicated to providing social opportunities to connect young adults and children with and without disabilities. The Development Associate is a part time position. You must be willing to join us at our monthly committee meetings at the Milltown Public Library at 10am on the Second Saturday of the month. The Development Associate reports to the Fundraising Manager and is responsible for DA donations and fundraising. The title of the position is subject to change before being hired.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead prospect research for major donors
  • Handle relationship management and reporting for a portfolio of major and individual donors
  • Help craft donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition processes and programs
  • Assist with special events
  • Ensure that board members are engaged and updated on an ongoing basis
  • Assist board members with donor solicitations

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management, project management and organizational skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and deadline-sensitive environment
  • Flexibility, grace under pressure, ability to make strong rational decisions and a sense of humor

The job of the mentor is to help the participants with their social skills and insure that everyone interacts with each other. The purpose of the Disability Allies is to plan team building activities that connect young adults and children with and without disabilities. At our events we pair each individual up with a mentor. Currently our events will take place primarily in central New Jersey. We do plan on expanding and we will soon be doing events in all of New Jersey.
