ORGANIZATION: United Planet

United Planet invites you to slow down in Tanzania. One of the most popular and exotic tourist destinations on the planet, Tanzania is also brimming with opportunities for volunteers to give their time. Between the heights of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the Serengeti desert and the turquoise waters of Zanzibar, Tanzania’s landscape is a marvel of nature. While Tanzania has avoided political strife and has a stable democracy, the country faces many economic and social issues. These, coupled with a limited healthcare infrastructure, result in large numbers of HIV/AIDS orphans.

As a volunteer in Tanzania, you can choose to work in the bustling city of Dar es Salaam or the relaxed, country setting of Iringa. Adventure awaits with either choice and so do smiling faces and friendly locals. Opportunities abound to work with children and youth in teaching or healthcare capacities.

Possible volunteer projects include:
- Working at a center for physically and mentally disabled youth and young adults
- Assisting with the care of young girls in an orphanage
- Teaching English and computer skills in a primary school
- Helping with outreach for a cancer institute
- Caring for children at a community center

Please visit our website for more information about the projects.
