Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity next summer? What about an opportunity to mentor youth and help cultivate in them an early interest in STEM fields?

The Multicultural Institute is recruiting mentors for its Youth Writing Festival (YWF) program this summer!

  • Be a mentor to 3 rd and 4 th graders
  • Provide STEM lessons to a group of 3 or four students
  • Help students strengthen their writing skills
  • Go on STEM related field trips
  • Do hands on activities with your group of students
  • Gain experience providing STEM instruction

The Youth Writing Festival (YWF) program offers a continuum of academic support for underserved low-income students and are comprised of small groups.

YWF offers students an opportunity to work on their writing skills and addresses the issue of students backsliding over the summer on progress made during the school year. STEM related activities, visits from professionals, and field trips are offered and an anthology is published at the end of the summer. This anthology shows the true progress made and is presented at a public reading.
