As we begin the new year, we are excited to announce new opportunities for the Interfaith community, and especially for those we serve. We have a steady supply of fresh fruits and vegetables that are donated to us daily. In order to make the best of the resources that are so generously provided to us - we need to ask for your help! We have a full daily schedule of food pick ups that we currently make on our own, but the list of donors is constantly growing. If you combine that with a retiring volunteer pool, you can see that if we do not replenish our faithful workers and drivers, we will end up missing out on a lot of great opportunities. As it stands, we have around six daily pick ups that we need to cover, plus we would like to be able to add one or two more but are currently unable to receive - due merely to a lack of drivers. If you would like to help us out with this, the commitment can be as large or as small as you wish. The simple overview is that we need people to run out to a business at a certain time of the day, load up the donations of food that are waiting for us, and then deliver them to our loading dock!

Mission Statement

Inter-faith Ministries is a group of faith based congregations, organizations and individuals joined together to help residents throughout the greater Modesto area that are in need of food, clothing, shelter and other humanitarian services.

Description

You are here: Home / About Us About Us

Interfaith Ministries of Greater Modesto was organized about 40 years ago by a group of caring and sharing individuals and organizations working toward the common good of helping those in need. Since that time, Interfaith Ministries has served thousands of individuals and families in Modesto, Ceres, Salida, Empire and Waterford. Services are available to low-income people who have proof of residency and income.

Our main services are food, clothing and the food coalition. This year, 2012, we are providing groceries to over 1000 people each month. Children, make up over 50% of people we served.

Our food coalition is made up of over 50 nonprofits and congregations. These groups pick up surplus foods and bread weekly. That food is used to feed thousands of people throughout Stanislaus County, including congregational dinners, breakfasts for the homeless, groceries to shut ins and many more food related activities.

Our clothes closet provides clean and sized garments free of charge to individuals and families weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 1:00p.m. to 4:30p.m.

Our facility is also open on the 4th Saturday of each month providing pantry and clothes closet services simultaneously. This is a volunteer-run service open from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.

Interfaith Ministries operates from 120 Kerr Avenue, Modesto at the entrance to the Airport District, one of the poorest neighborhoods in our community. Our facility houses the food pantry and clothes closet, administrative offices and warehouse functions. Clients may receive services from the Clothes Closet and Choice Pantry every 30 days.
