We need after-school tutors. 1-2 on Mondays, 2 on Tuesdays, and 1-2 on Thrusdays. You can serve once a month or weekly - that's up to you.
Don't be intimidated by "tutoring" - we help inner city kids with poor or absentee parents get their homework done. Majority of students you would see are 2nd-8th grades. Their work is not difficult, but they may have issues that make it difficult to stay positive and focused.
Reading is our priority so your daily task might be to read story books with young children.
Snack is also served so help prepping and serving might be asked.
If we're busy, you might be asked to float bewteen 2-3 kids at once. If we're slow, you might be asked to do some cutting folding, or minor paperwork to help out the pastor in between students.
This job is very rewarding and the kids will warm up to you after they meet you for a while. Please keep in mind that these are inner city kids from poor homes - their behavior isn't usually perfect. Staff will discipline for you - that's not your worry.
