Los Angeles High School of the Arts (LAHSA) at the RFK Community Schools Complex is located in the heart of Korea town. As an urban Pilot School and a certified Linked Learning School, LAHSA serves 410 students, many who come from first generation immigrant families of Latino and/or Korean descent. This Los Angeles Unified School District school is widely recognized for its award winning dramatic arts program, its warm and inclusive culture, and its innovative educational programs.
Intern description: We are seeking a creative individual who is passionate about youth empowerment. This individual will create training materials for a series of mentor training workshops. Amongst some of the benefits, the intern will contribute to the emotional and intellectual nourishment of various at risk youth from the city of Los Angeles.
Intern Role & Responsibilities: Intern will create a 2 - day four-hour workshop curriculum along with interactive activities for volunteers interested in becoming mentors. The goal of the workshops will be produce youth mentors capable of effectively and respectfully communicating with young adults.
Time Commitment: We ask that interns make a 3- month commitment to serve 4-6 hours per week. Schedule is very flexible as most work can be done remotely.
Requirements: Bimonthly meetings with school coordinators to provide updates and receive feedback. Some experience in curriculum writing. Interest in the arts and youth empowerment. Some mentoring experience (either as a mentor or mentee).
