Hospice Volunteer Training- Help in the Community or at a Hospice Inpatient Center

Heritage Hospice is looking for individuals to volunteer in their local communities to assit with 1. visiting patients in their homes (private residence or senior living communites) or 2. serving patients and families in our inpatient unit.

A care companion is simply a friend who visits on a routine basis with someone receiving hospice care. They provide companionship, emotional support, and a presences to listen to stories and provide a friendly smile.

Care companions also provide respite support to tired and stressed caregivers so they can take a much-needed break.

Care companions in the inpatient center provide vists to patient and their families during their stay, listen to their stories, and make them feel welcomed.

Volunteers will attend an in-person two hour training to learn about hospice care, how you can help, and the history of Heritage Hospice. Heritage will complete a background check and require a TB test before you accept your first assignment.
