ORGANIZATION: Picknelly Adult and Family Education Center

Picknelly Adult and Family Education Center is seeking volunteer tutors to facilitate an independent math study group for Adult Basic Education students seeking their HiSet (GED). This position directly involves the innovation of open, online education. This is an excellent opportunity for experience in education/nonprofit with a tight knit group of fun loving folks passionate about their work. Duties involve:
-Building a community for learners
-Setting up accounts for new students
-Maintaining classroom conduct and environment
-Support students' education, assist students with math problems
-Recommend resources to learners
-Update Moodle course modules
-Provide support using online resources such as Khan Academy

Mission Statement

Located on the third and fourth floors of the Holyoke Transportation Center at 206 Maple Street, the Picknelly Adult and Family Education Center was established by members of the Juntos Collaborative, Holyoke Public Schools, and Holyoke Community College (HCC) to provide Holyoke residents with adult basic education and related services in an easily accessible location.

Description

The center offers high school equivalency preparation and testing, Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, tutoring and mentoring, career counseling, workforce development classes, transition to college programs, and free and low-cost basic computer and software classes in English and Spanish.
