About

As a member of United Planet’s Cuba Immersion Quest, you’ll see Cuba as it truly is...from the moment you step onto the ground you’ll be swept up in authentic Cuban cultural experiences. Through extensive, daily interaction with business owners, artists, and scholars, you will deepen your understanding of how this neighboring island is adjusting to its changing relationship with the US and world. Along with your Quest group, build meaningful relationships with the people that are shaping Cuba’s promising future.

Led by your Cuban host, you and your group members will have the unique chance to share and exchange your skills and expertise with local Cubans from diverse sectors of society and truly connect with some of Cuba’s brightest and most promising young minds. Your group’s program will be designed based on the interests and skills of the participants, ranging from working with a local dance troupe, to immersing yourself in the Orishas, to experiencing Old Havana alongside your Cuban hosts. This program is for people of all backgrounds, ages 18 and up.

Exact activities in Cuba will be decided based on the interests and goals of your Quest group, however, here are some possibilities!

- See the work of the artist Fuster: this local artist's home has changed over the years from a small community project to a complete masterpiece that brings light, spirit, and energy to the town.

- Engage with La Colmenita: La Colmenita is a theater program that inspires social change. Get to know this amazing company through workshops, language exchange, and cooperative games.

- Experience the Organoponicos: these unique organic farming communities are pioneers in creating environmentally friendly and sustainable food practices for Cuba.

- Take a walk back in time: visit the vibrant historical Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour this unique piece of history on foot and by antique car.

- A Day in the Life: visit a local Cuban neighborhood and see what "a day in the life" looks like for your Cuban hosts. Learn about healthcare, food shopping, government, and private business as you gain an understanding what day to day is like for many Cubans.
