Do you love putting things in their rightful place? Do you drool over DIY tile projects on Pintrest? You might just be the perfect person to help keep our ReStore’s tile section clean and retail friendly. The Beaverton Habitat for Humanity ReStore is looking for a volunteer with a flair for organization to help us keep up with the high volume of tile our store receives.

Mission:

Our ReStores raise funds to help Habitat for Humanity build affordable homes in the Portland Metro area. We keep usable materials out of the waste stream by selling donated new and used building materials and home furnishings for a fraction of retail price.

Supervision and Support Plan:

This position requires a ReStore orientation and training by a staff member. This will take place on site during a scheduled shift. Tile Specialists will report directly to the Assistant Manager of the store, and additional support will be provided by the Store Manager as needed. Tile Specialists will be expected to volunteer in the store for two weeks before assuming the role, so as to orient them thoroughly to the ins and outs of our operation.

To help foster a great shopping experience by keeping our store clean and easy to shop.

To help guide other volunteers in retail organization methods.

To maintain an organized and shoppable tile section.

Responsibilities/Duties:

To understand the mission of Habitat for Humanity, the ReStore, and be willing to communicate to others

To be a courteous and professional representative of Habitat

To keep up with and maintain the organization of our tile section as things are sold and more donations come in.

Start and end date for assignment: This opportunity is ongoing but we do ask for a minimal weekly commitment of at least two four hour shift for a few months.

Desired abilities, skills and/or experience:

Must be comfortable communicating with various individuals of all backgrounds.

Must be courteous and professional.

Previous experience in retail and/or warehousing is a plus.

The ability to lift up to forty pounds and utilize moving equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks and dollies.

Knowledge of tile products and installation preferred, but not required. Being open to learning about tile is great too!

Benefits:

Help the ReStore keep valuable materials out of the landfill to sell in our stores where we can help support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

Meeting a variety of people, and working with an amazing crew of staff and volunteers.

Staff and Volunteers enjoy 25% off of regular price (non discounted) items after 16 hours of volunteer service!
