Mentoring makes a BIG difference for only a small amount of time. We are looking for volunteers that are 21 years or older to work with adolescents in the Juvenile Justice system.
Youth range from ages 10-17 who are "low to medium" risk, and are referred to the program either by probation or Child, Youth and Family Support Center (CYFSC).
This mentoring program is designed to provide offending youth with a positive role model in the attempts to reduce recidivism. Most of our youth are male with an African American, Hispanic or Latino backgrounds.
All youth are matched with a mentor of the same gender, therefore, males are highly encouraged to apply! Mentors are required to be at least 21 years old, with a valid drivers lisence and reliable transportation. Mentors should plan to meet with their youth throughout the month for 1 year.
