Allerton and McBryde Gardens are a botanical treasurehouse of tropical flora, containing collections of native Hawaiian species and many other plants that have been wild-collected from the tropical regions of the world.

We are seeking Volunteer Gardener’s Assistants to help us care for these plants by planting, weeding, watering, trimming, and raking.

This role would suit someone who is interested in learning more about plants and gaining skills in gardening. You will be working under the supervision of a lead gardener. No previous experience is necessary. This role will require bending and some light lifting.

Nursery assistants are also needed, Monday or Wednesdays are best (call or email for scheduling). Nursery volunteers are in a more controlled environment working at "waist high" potting tables. Duties may include weeding, repotting plants, sterilizing pots and more!

Time commitment: any weekday, a minimum of 4 hours between 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Closed toe shoes are required.

Visiting Kauai? Visiting Volunteers are welcome! There are many one time opportunities available (M-F).
Please contact us by email volunteer@ntbg.org or telephone 808-762-1417.

First step is complete our on line registration form NTBG Volunteer Registration (South Shore Gardens Kauai) on our website ntbg.org/support/volunteer and scroll to the "Register to be a McBryde/Allerton Volunteer" link.

Please note - most volunteer positions will report to our administrative headquarters located at 3530 Papalina Road in Kalaheo. Closed-toe shoes / covered shoes (like a tennis shoe or hiking boot) are required.

**NTBG is not able to provide housing or transportation to its volunteers.
