More than a million New Yorkers are facing hunger and in many communities it is difficult to find fresh, healthy food. City Harvest's Healthy Neighborhoods Program helps to address this problem.
LiveOn NY has teamed with City Harvest's Mobile Market Program and we need your help at the Markets throughtout the Summer. Locations are in the South Bronx (Melrose), Manhattan (Washington Heights/Inwood), Staten Island (North Shore), Northwest Queens (Astoria) and Brooklyn (Bed-Stuy).
The first Markets will be in Bed Stuy on Wednesday April 20th and Saturday May 7th. (Contact me about dates for additional markets).
Your job at the market will be helping to bring awareness to older shoppers about the benefits they might qualify for with an emphasis on food (SNAP) assistance. You will distribute fliers about our programs and register those who are interested in receiving more information.
By volunteering with LiveOn NY you will help to ensure hungry and "food insecure" older adults and their families receive access to much needed food, medical, and rental assistance.
Bilingual Volunteers are encouraged to apply.
