We are very excited to expand the Charity Club program and are looking to add two board members during 2016 who are equally as excited. Specifically, we are looking for professionals that are:

  • Committed: to our purpose and in our actions
  • Genuine: authentic, be yourself, represent yourself
  • Caring: thoughtful of others
  • Engaged: actively involved

This is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who have passion about ISC’s mission and have the resources (time and financial) to commit to being an active member of the Board. Selected Board members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower children to be inclusive, socially and emotionally intelligent and charitable.

Description

I Support Community launched Charity Club in 2015. Charity Club lessons have two primary components: instruction/dialogue and activity. Introducing and discussing each concept is the important first step, but to internalize it, children must put that concept into action. The lessons are structured within a "charitable context," in that children learn about a community issue (i.e. homelessness) through the introduction to and explanation of a local charity. We explain the community issue being addressed by the charity, how the charity accomplishes its mission and ways the children can help. We then get "our hands dirty" doing an activity that emphasizes and reinforces the lesson. Through charitable context, the children build and practice character skills. 6 elementary schools and over 250 children participated in Charity Club in the spring of 2016. We anticipate 4x that participation in school year 2016-2017.
