Parameters of VOLUNTEER POSITION
The Lucas Artists Residency Program at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, seeks a Curatorial Assistant Intern to work on various exhibition-related projects.
Projects will include: conducting original research for an upcoming new film project by American performance artist Karen Finley, and new exhibition in Montalvo’s Project Space Gallery; writing and developing content for Lucas Artists Program’s Open Access blog; creating a collection database for a growing works on paper collection; and generating a hard and digital archive of program documentation (photographs, video, press coverage, collateral, and other material) of a decade of arts programming by Lucas Artists Programs and Lucas Artists Fellows.
We require a minimum 3-6-month commitment for this position, and at least 10 hours per week. This is an unpaid volunteer position. The position requires excellent critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and interest in and knowledge of archival methods. This is an opportunity to work with the curatorial team at an internationally-recognized artist residency program. We hope to find a talented individual who is looking for a long-term relationship with our organization so that they can play an integral, ongoing role within our dedicated team as we support up to 60 artists a year from all over the world.
