Compass to Care is a childhood cancer foundation focused on supporting a child’s cancer journey by scheduling and paying for travel arrangements.

We are currently seeking a Development Intern who will make a direct impact in the organization’s fundraising efforts. The Development Intern will support the CEO with fundraising efforts, including major gifts and direct appeals.

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 2 months

An ideal candidate must:

  • Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of Compass to Care
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Possess solid oral and written communication skills
  • Be skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Word, Word Perfect Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat are mandatory; knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop a plus. ·
  • Be able to operate standard office equipment (fax, photocopier, etc.)
  • Be able to juggle multiple tasks

The Development Intern for Compass to Care will learn to:

  • Conduct prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors
  • Contact supporters via telephone
  • Perform thank you calls
  • Maintain donor and grant databases and files, including calendaring deadlines, logging donations, generating and sending donor acknowledgements, logging donor appreciation efforts
  • Assist staff with grant application writing and tracking
  • Support staff with logistics associated with special events, including securing silent auction donations
  • Work with CEO to implement development strategies
