Volunteer today

Many times Hospice patients live alone in their home. As their independent abilities fade away, they need a helping hand. Volunteers are needed to help these patients do the simple things that we often take for granted, such as, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, etc. These volunteers are not asked to do strenuous or intense work, just simple light household duties around the home to be a helping hand. This volunteer will be trained to go into hospice patient’s homes and home like settings All required training is covered by Alacare including basic Alacare training, drug screen, background check, 2 step TB skin test and Hep. B vaccine. This volunteer will be mentored by the volunteer and community relations coordinator until comfortable and confident to be independent.

Mission Statement

The mission of Alacare Home Health & Hospice is to strive to consistently exceed our customers’ expectations by maintaining an ethical, positive, efficient and financially sound workplace environment that allows our organization’s caring, multi-skilled and empowered employees to provide high quality home based services through a system of clinically superior programs.

Description

Our volunteers are vitally important to our hospice program. Volunteers provide emotional support to our patients and families during the very important last chapter of our patients' lives. Some volunteers continue their support to the bereaved following the death of a patient. Volunteer Services are delivered directly to the patient in the home or in the office by supporting our hospice program administratively. Some volunteers even serve in a capacity from their own homes! Volunteer interaction is so very valuable to our patients and families, but is just as rewarding to our volunteers, who consider it an honor to work with them.
