Calling all volunteers! Join together with Mystic River communities in the celebration of Earth Day (April 22nd) by cleaning up litter and debris and removing invasive plants in DCR Torbert MacDonald Park in Medford, part of the Mystic River Reservation. This event is part of Park Serve Day - MassParks annual statewide day of volunteer service during Earth Week.

Mission Statement

The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) was founded in 1972 to protect and restore natural resources in the 22-community watershed. MyRWA accomplishes this work through the efforts of professional staff and thousands of volunteers working together on a project-by-project basis.

MyRWA mission is to protect and restore the Mystic River, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations and to celebrate the value, importance and great beauty of these natural resources.

Description

The Mystic River Watershed encompasses 76 square miles, half a million inhabitants, and 22 communities, in whole or in part. It extends from the headwaters of the Aberjona River in suburban Reading to the heavily urban/industrial communities bordering Boston Harbor.

Communities in the watershed include the following: Arlington, Melrose, Belmont, Reading, Revere, Charlestown, E. Boston, Somerville, Burlington, Stoneham, Cambridge, Wakefield, Chelsea, Watertown, Everett, Wilmington, Lexington, Winchester, Malden, Winthrop, Medford, and Woburn.
