Newark Parks Foundation is looking for a Pedestrian & Bicycle Advocate. This Spokesperson would address the Newark City Council from time to time on matters related to Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety (see http://newarkparks.org/bike-pedestrian-safety/).

Also, if you're interested in public speaking, there are a number of civic organizations from which you could represent the Foundation so as to communicate its mission and messages, and especially Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety.

If your strengths are dimplomacy and public speaking, we'd love to hear from you. We'll give you every opportunity to make an impact on this small town.

Newark Parks Foundation mobilizes financial and community support to deliver thriving, accessible, supported, and varied parks, open spaces, and recreational opportunities for a healthy and united Newark.

Description

Newark Parks Foundation will support new and existing parks, open spaces, and recreation in and around Newark, California, for the enjoyment and benefit of the citizens of Newark. The Foundation will do so by:

  • Organizing volunteers to build and/or maintain parks and park amenities/structures.
  • Organizing user groups to identify the community’s unmet recreational needs.
  • Applying for grants to support the Foundation’s capital projects and, as needed, right-of-way leases.
  • Identifying partnerships between surrounding cities and park districts.
  • Publishing articles to generate public support for parks and to educate the general public on the state of parks and recreation.
  • Sponsoring/organizing park support events, including trash pickup events.
