The Cancer Assault Challenge, is a 5K obstacle course run similar to a Tough Mudder(r) or Warrior Run(r), but with a good cause. It consists of an extreme run for the competitor and the couch potato run for those who want to have some fun but still raise awareness. Race participants know that an event’s success or failure is dependent on great volunteers! We are always looking to put together excellent teams of volunteers who are willing to offer their assistance and support in order to make the CANCER ASSAULT CHALLENGE a success.
In return for ~6 hours of volunteer service, each volunteer will receive a fully comp’d race entry!!! If you are interested in volunteering at our event, fill out the volunteer registration form on our websiteor email us at cac@tds.net with your contact info and race request for volunteering. Volunteers ROCK!
Possible volunteer positions needed include:
Before Event:
- Helping to sign up runners and teams
- Hanging up posters and handing out pamphlets
- Any special skill you may have to offer: social media, building, marketing, certified lifeguard, etc.
- Setting up course/obstacles in the days preceding the event
Day of Event:
- Assisting in parking cars
- Course marshal
- Concession attendant
- Clean up after event

Mission Statement
The Cancer Assault Challenge is the brain child of Julie and Henry Lopez. After being involved with all sorts of small events such as bake sales, car washes, etc., the Lopez couple felt that their efforts would be better served by coordinating one large event that was more locally focused. In 2015, Julie and Henry founded the Assault Challenge Foundation (501c3) and along with the Board members are looking to create an event that would appeal to the families and youth in our community - both as a fun event and training ground for young people to grow their volunteer tools and skills.
Description
Our signature event, the Cancer Assault Challenge, is a 5K obstacle course run similar to a Tough Mudder(r) or Warrior Run(r). It consists of an extreme run for the competitor and the couch potato run for those who want to have some fun but still raise awareness. The CAC isn’t defined by any one thing. We’re not just about fitness, or motivation, or making anyone "better." CAC is 100% attitude. Our event is designed to get YOU OFF the couch, out of the house, having fun together and raising cancer awareness. In groups. In costumes. In mud. We don’t require training or any particular level of athleticism. Instead, we encourage you to "come as you are". Hey, it’s all for a good cause: proceeds benefit the MACC Fund.
