Position Overview

The Budget for Baby (B4B) Instructor presents the B4B program to clients seeking financial education in preparation for the arrival of a child. The volunteer is appointed by the Chair of Volunteers (COV), in consultation with the Director, and serves under the supervision of the B4B Lead and in close cooperation with the Layette Coordinator. NMCRS is also able to offer childcare and mileage reimbursements to all of our Volunteers.


Core Responsibilities Include

  • Present NMCRS B4B workshop

  • Monitor availability of course materials, set up resource table, and ensure materials are current

  • Oversee registration process to include eligibility and proper documentation

The mission of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational, and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States, eligible family members, and survivors when in need; and to receive and manage funds to administer these programs.

Description

Founded in 1904, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private, non-profit charitable organization. We exist solely to support the active and retired communities of the Naval Services. The Society's principal activity is the disbursement of interest-free loans and grants. It also provides visiting nurse services, thrift shops, infant layettes, budget counseling services, and education scholarships and loans. Located at approximately 236 offices ashore and afloat throughout the world, the Society's work is accomplished mainly by its 3,500 dedicated, trained, and caring Volunteers who are supported by a small cadre of employees.
