Love to sing, dance, craft and interact with the elderly? We are looking for volunteers to join our activity group who enjoy bringing smiles to seniors. We have a team that bops around to various long term care facilities in North Kansas City, St Joe, Platte City and Excelsior Springs, who organize and run an activity for residents. I am not sure who enjoys it more, the seniors or the volunteers who assist!
From sing-a-longs, interactive memory games, remembering and sharing the past, the opportunity to get moving from their chair to a chance to make something by hand, we ALWAYS have FUN!
We are looking for those who are leaders and can run these groups to those who can spot a senior who needs just a little extra attention and partner with them to help them engage. Maybe you are more of a behind the scenes person who could help us design the craft, download music or create some brain teasers appropriate for seniors. Great. That work can be done from your own home. As a retired Girl Scout Leader, this type of volunteer role has been a perfect fit for me!
To join us, you will need to attend Crossroads Hospice Volunteer Training to learn more about how seniors and their family manage end of life issues.
We are offering a training at our Gladstone MO office on March 31, 2018 from 9a-3p.
If the training is too far for you, do not worry, let us come to you! Individual training is frequently arranged with those who are a distance from our offices or for whom the scheduled training does not work with their personal calendar. Just give us a call and let’s arrange to get together.
For More Information and to sign up for training, call Kathy Fetters at Crossroads Hospice 816-389-5426.
