Join the effort! A Helping Hand is a local nonprofit that has served older adults and individuals with disabilities since 1995.
Accompany to appointments & on errands: Escort to medical and personal appointments. Help shop for groceries, pick up a prescription, or make a deposit. Go out to a movie or lunch on the town.
Be a companion:
Engage clients in conversation. Read with or to them. Play Scrabble or work on crosswords. Walk together or take a yoga class!
Help around the home:
Assist with personal in-home projects. Prepare a meal together. Provide medication reminders. Stop and smell (and water) the roses!
Provide respite care:
Support family and other caregivers in attending to their own needs, as you care for their loved one.
Volunteers can provide "a helping hand" in many different ways. Volunteer assignments are carefully made based on the interest and availability of the volunteer.
