Mission Statement
Our Mission To give our neighbors choices for staying independent, active and connected. Our Vision To live in a community where no one has to grow older alone.
Description
NEST (North East Seattle Together) is a grass-roots community dedicated to ensuring that as we grow older, we can continue to live safely and confidently in our own homes, in the neighborhoods we love.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, NEST serves residents living south of N.E. Northgate Way/110th Street, north of the ship canal, east of Interstate 5, and west of Lake Washington. NEST connects neighbors through a network of trusted volunteers and vendors, and many wellness, educational, and social activities. There are four dozen other so called "virtual" villages like NEST across the country.
Volunteers provide a wide range of support, including help with transportation, yard work, gardening, computers, pet care and errands. Ongoing educational and social events for members and the community alike enrich the mind and the spirit and provide opportunity for deeper social connection. The NEST office provides just one phone number to call to arrange for all kinds of services and providers, ranging from home repair and home upkeep, to pet care and gardening help, to daily in-home care or assistance.
