Volunteers in Action (VIA) is a program of Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. Volunteers provide social support to adults in need of services in Hood River and Klickitat Counties. VIA clients are older adults (over 60 years in age), people with disabilities or chronic health concerns, or others who need a little extra help.

Volunteers provode the following types of support:

  • Help with transportation - drive someone to church, grocery store, doctor appointments
  • Grocery Shopping with or for someone
  • Light Housekeeping
  • Minor Home Repair
  • Yard Work
  • Friendly Visits and Outings
  • Telephone Check-Ins
  • Reading to People
  • Respite Care, sitting with an adult so their caregiver can take care of themselves

Requirements & Commitment

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 6 month commitment once you complete training
  • TB blood test for volunteers working directly with clients
