People with BIG hearts needed! Be a friend to dementia residents.

Arvada Care and Rehabilitation is looking for some big-hearted people to come spend time with some of our lonliest, most isolated, dementia residents. Angel Volunteers would choose their own schedule, and would spend time with selected residents in their rooms or in common areas, reading aloud, listening to stories, or simply holding a hand. The residents visited by Angel Volunteers are people who suffer from dementia, are unable to participate in other group social activities, and have ZERO family/friend visits. Because these folks get lonley and bored, they can act out in disruptive ways. But if they have some contact-- even if it's just sitting in silence and holding a hand-- they are calm and relaxed. Angel Volunteers receive education and training online through us, learning about the disease of dementia, and acquiring tips and tools for sucessful interactions. You will work alongside our activities staff, who are SO thankful for your time, and will always be around to answer questions you may have. If you're interested in learning more about dementia and how to sucessfully interact with people that suffer from it, or if you simply have a big, generous heart and want to bring some peace to some of the most vulnerable members of the community, we would love to have you. We have no minimum commitments, and are happy to work with your schedule. Please let me know if you're interested!
