Position: Grant Writer

Type: Volunteer Position

Time Commitment: Up to 6 hrs/week (when assigned a grant)

Position Description: Lost Boyz Inc. is looking for a Grant Writer, who will be primarily responsible for researching OR developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations. This role helps to persuasively communicate Lost Boyz Inc.'s mission and programs to potential funders. The Grant Writer will write and prepare grant proposals and reports that align with our mission, as assigned by the Grants Committee Chair.

This is a volunteer position that works as a member of Lost Boyz Inc.'s Grants Committee. The candidate is requested to have his/her own laptop and communications tools.

Although this is a virtual opportunity, the ideal candidate would be located in the Chicagoland area.

Provide sports-based youth development to help boys and girls in Chicago’s under-resourced neighborhoods develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.

Description

Lost Boyz Inc. is a not-for-profit organization with a common interest in community development in disadvantaged neighborhoods. Our efforts are directed towards revitalizing organized sports, fostering learning and innovation in our youth, promoting public safety, and stimulating local economics.

Lost Boyz currently serves approx. 120 girls and boys ages 4-17 through our MVP Youth Baseball & Softball Program. This program is divided into three components - Fall Ball, Winter Clinic, and Spring Training/League Play - spanning 10 months (January-October). Recognizing the importance of continuing development through young adulthood, Lost Boyz also provides additional social, educational, and professional opportunities for up to 40 individuals aged 16-24 under our Successful Youth Leaders Program.

Our programs help to promote discipline and social skills within our participants, while also keeping each youth involved in a positive, non-violent activity.
