VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

DATE: Saturday, April 30, 2016

LOCATION: Columbus Zoo & Aquarium

TIME: Arrival times vary between 7:15 AM and 8:30 AM. Event concludes around 12:00 PM.

ATTIRE: Please dress for the weather. As we all know, being Ohio Residents, weather is always a variable. This event will go on, rain or shine. All positions are outside. Please wear clothing that is appropriate for the forecast and shoes that are comfortable for you to stand/walk in.

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION (2)

* Location: Green Tent, outside of Zoo Gates

* Arrival: 7:15 AM

Please be prompt, as other volunteers will be awaiting your arrival. Thank you!

Responsibilities: Please check off each volunteer upon their arrival on the provided spreadsheet. Please ask them to fill out their contact information. Hand them their name tag, map and FAQ sheet. Ask them to please wait in the area near the Volunteer Registration table for the staff point person to provide additional instruction.

WALKER WELCOME (2)

* Location: In front of Sign In Tent

* Arrival: 7:15 a.m.

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, a staff member will take you to your post. Direct participants to Sign In Tent for walk event. Answer any questions people might have- use the event map and FAQ information to respond to questions. Please be courteous and helpful.

DAY- OF REGISTRATION (4)

* Location: Sign In Tent

* Arrival: 7:15 a.m.

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, please wait for a staff member to direct you to the Sign In Tent. Clipboards will be available to hand down the line to be filled out before people arrive at the front of the line. Please ask each participant if they would like to make a donation. If yes, please place donations in provided envelope and write Team or Participant Name and the amount of the donation. Each donation needs a separate envelope. Please ask each participant if they are a Zoo Member. If no, please hand them their Zoo Entry Ticket. If yes, no action is required. Send all participants to Zoo gates for entry. Please be courteous and helpful.

WALKER CHECK-IN (6)

* Location: Sign In Tent

* Arrival: 7:15 a.m.

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, please wait for a staff member to direct you to the Sign In Tent. You will need to collect donations from walkers who have registered prior to the morning of the event. Place donations in provided envelopes and write team name, participant name and the amount of the donation. Ask each participant if they raised $100 dollars- if yes, hand them their T-Shirt Coupon for redemption at the Tee Shirt/Goody Bag distribution table inside the zoo gates. If no, no action required. Please ask if they have a Zoo Membership. If no, please hand them their Zoo Entry Ticket. If yes, no action is required. Send all participants to Zoo gates for entry. Please be courteous and helpful.

TEE SHIRT/GOODY BAG DISTRIBUTION TABLE (2)

* Location: Inside Zoo Gates

* Arrival: 7:30 AM

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, please wait for a staff person to walk you to the T-Shirt area. They will explain your responsibilities, which include taking T-Shirt Coupons from participants, asking participants for their t-shirt size, and getting the goody bag and appropriate t-shirt size from the boxes available.

COURSE MONITOR (25)

* Location: Various posts along 5k route

* Arrival: 7:45 AM

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, please wait for an Arthritis Foundation representative to walk you to your post along the 5k route. On the course, cheer and encourage walkers, keep any eye for injuries or help needed. EMS is in front of zoo. Use your event map and FAQ sheet to answer questions. Please be courteous and helpful.

FINISH LINE-WATER (4)

* Location: Water’s Edge Pavilion

* Arrival: 8:00 AM

Responsibilities: After signing in and picking up your name tag, please wait for an Arthritis Foundation representative to walk you to the Water’s Edge Pavilion. You will work to set up the Finish Line with water. Walkers will begin crossing the finish line before 9 AM and it will be your job to hand water out to those who would like it.
