Vet to Vet Salute
Veteran Salute

Are you a Military Veteran? Do you have a few hours each week to spend with a fellow Veteran on hospice?

If so, HarmonyCares Hospice is looking for you! At HarmonyCares Hospice, we understand and value the bond that Veterans have with each other. We realize that it is a unique bother/sisterhood that non-veterans are unlikely to fully understand.

Our Vet-to-Vet program places Veterans with Veteran Hospice patients to provide support, understanding and friendship during end of life care.

Hospice services are designed to provide comfort care as well as emotional support and spiritual support in the final phase of a terminal illness. HarmonyCares Hospice ensures that our Veteran patients will spend their final days of their journey in comfort, dignity and honor.

Veteran Volunteers receive training related to the core principles of hospice and our Veteran Volunteer services all in order to promote the best outcome for patient and Volunteer alike.

If you would like more information on this unique opportunity, please contact HarmonyCares Hospice.

About HarmonyCares Hospice-Grand Rapids

Location:

3355 Eagle Park Dr. NE, Suite 102, Grand Rapids, MI 49525, US

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for patients whose medical conditions are not responding to treatment or for those patients who choose not to seek aggressive medical care at the end stage of life. It is a program for patients who are considered terminal and are expected to live six months or less if the disease follows its natural course, although many patients outlive this time frame. The hospice philosophy focuses on comfort care not curative care. The goal of hospice care is for the patient to remain as comfortable and pain-free as possible in their own home or the home of a loved one through the end of life. Hospice care can also be provided in a long-term care facility or an assisted living facility
