AmeriCorps members assist on build projects in order to serve more families. They help plan the project by acquiring materials, performing energy audits, or prepping existing homes. These tasks must be completed in order for volunteers to serve. Members lead volunteers, providing quality assurance and safety instruction and monitoring. Providing an excellent volunteer experience leads to volunteers’ desire to contribute again and support Habitat whether through donations or volunteering. AmeriCorps are often the "face" of Habitat to the community. Members also play a key role building new homes to LEED standard and in finishing the projects in a timely manner providing a high standard of customer service to the partner families. Habitat Charlotte anticipates serving approximately 120 families during the member’s term. A living stipend will be provided every other week throughout the term of service.
