The Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia (SONOVA), now celebrating its 5th year as an independent orchestra, is looking for talented musicians to join us. Highlights of performances this season will include

  • the overture from the Barber of Seville;
  • the Barber violin concerto;
  • The Planets;
  • Sweeney Todd; and
  • Homage to Star Trek

In addition, we will be performing our annual holiday concert and we are working on finalizing plans for a special concert to celebratte our anniversary. Further, this seasons we will being performing a chamber concert series, so there will be as many opportunities to play a wide variety of music as possible. Our practices will be at Christ Church of Arlington, located at the address listed at the top of the posting. Please note that at this time we are only looking for the instruments listed below. However, if you play an instrument not listed but are interested in joining, please contact Michael Thompson, as being added to our wait list may be possible.

Description

The Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia is an all-volunteer, full orchestra which performs four major concerts each season (Sept.-May/June). Themes for past concerts have included music from the Harry Potter motion pictures, the works of composers such as Aaron Copland and Antonin Dvork, and a celebration of the Americas with music from the US and Ecuador.
