About FLEET FEET Sports

Location:

504 Old Smizer Mill Rd., Fenton, MO 63026, US

Mission Statement

Their Mission Statement was the same in 1993 as it is today: Build a business that uses the core values of (1) positive attitude, (2) effective communication, and (3) teamwork to (1) serve the customer, (2) have fun, and (3) pay the bills. In the early years, in addition to working at the store David coached at St. Charles West high school and then Lindenwood University - and Debby worked as an accountant at Mallinkrodt (now Covidien). Both of them also coached marathon training teams for the Arthritis Foundation, the Wellness Community, and other charities. David also served as President of the St. Louis Track Club and the St. Charles Runners Club (now the FLEET FEET Runners Club) and for nearly a decade was a Senior Writer and a Special Contributor to Running Times Magazine, responsible for coordinating the wear- and lab-testing for the magazine's road shoe reviews. David created and is constantly improving the Footwear Identification Tool, a software application used by FLEET FEET Fit Professionals to fit customers with the most appropriate footwear. In March 2001 they opened a store in Chesterfield and in June 2008 FLEET FEET Fenton opened its doors.

Description

In late 1992, after lifelong runner David Spetnagel had worked as an aerospace engineer for both NASA and McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing), he convinced his wife, Debby, to turn running - their hobby and passion - into their second careers. On April 12th, 1993 they opened their first FLEET FEET Sports store in St. Charles.
