Hello! The American Lung Association is working on an initiative called Point of Sale which is how tobacco companies target youth, in convenience stores, to become tobacco users.
What we are tasked to do is survey a number of convenience stores all throughout Broward county using a very specific survey instrument. The survey instrument is used to measure the amount of tobacco advertisements as well as the placement of these ads inside and outside the convenience stores. We also take a look at tobacco products and tobacco product placement geared towards youth accessibility.
The ALA will host a training session for all the volunteers so that they are educated on the issue and task at hand. We need your help! Let's help put an end to youth tobacco sales and smoking in general! Please contact Jordan Boudlal if you would like to volunteer or if you have any further questions.
