Journey to the Falls riverboat
Ranger points out site while on riverboat education trip..

Warning! This is a super fun volunteer opportunity! Work with National Park Service Park Rangers to teach 3rd-5th grade students about the science of the Mississippi River related to birds, geology, otters, water bugs, and urban watersheds. Volunteers assist at a station on board a moving Mississippi Riverboat related to one of the previous topics. No expertise is necessary other than an enthusiastic interest in youth education.

Up to 10 volunteers are needed per day, 8:30am-2pm September and October 2018. Volunteer for one day or multiple.

The Volunteers-In-Parks program, jointly managed by Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and Mississippi Park Connection, connects, educates, and promotes the enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River through unique and entertaining volunteer opportunities to the entire community.

Description

The Volunteers-In-Parks program is a joint program with Mississippi Park Connection. Mississippi National River and Recreation Area represents America's greatest river, the Mississippi, which weaves together the natural and cultural heritage and economic vitality of the region. The National Park Service works with partners to foster increased citizen awareness, advocacy, and enjoyment of the resources of the Mississippi River.

Volunteer-In-Parks provides people with opportunities to discover, experience, and enjoy the diversity of the Mississippi River while also preserving it for future generations through volunteer restoration projects and education programs.
