Our 5K volunteers are the heart of this event. We couldn't put on such a great party without your energetic and positive energy and we're delighted to share this special day with you! There are a variety of ways to be involved as a 5K volunteer, below are a few of the positions available on race day.

Amazing Set-up Crew - Come early and help set up tables and tents in preparation for our grand celebration.
Course Marshal - These folks are posted throughout the course at major intersections and areas of high concentration to direct 5K participants.
Fun Zone- Just like it sounds! These volunteers will help girls bedazzle their race bibs, help families create personalized posters for their girls and supervise fun activities.
Greeter/Parking - Joyfully welcome the girls, their families and members of the community to the GOTR grounds. Help our guests safely and quickly find parking and make their way toward the fun! Help participants find their way to registration, the start line, restrooms, the merchandise tent... wherever they need to go!
Participant Refreshments - These cheerful volunteers congratulate finishers with refreshments after the finish line and encourage them to move toward the food and photo zone.
Photo Zone - Help create memories to last a lifetime in the Photo Zone. Ensure that participants are enjoying the photo booth with a variety of photo accessories provided. Assist in snapping pics for anyone who's selfie arm just isn't long enough!
Race Day Registration and T-Shirt Crew - Help check in event participants and give them their t-shirt.
Sparkle Runners - If you would like to run with the girls, this is for you! Be a moving course marshal and provide gentle encouragement and support to our girls along the run. Bring energy and spirit to the celebration through fun clothing and accessories and happy hair! Sparkle Runners also provide a layer of security.
Volunteer Check-In - Help check in the amazing volunteers, get them their t-shirt (including one for yourself!), and help them meet with their team.
Water Stop Energizer Crew - These super volunteers will ensure adequate water is provided throughout the course for participants so they are energized to complete the 5K! Heavy lifting may be required.
Or you can always select "Event Volunteer Willing to Help Where Needed" to be assigned to an area of need!

Mission Statement
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
Description
Over a period of 10 weeks, girls in the 3rd through 5th grade participate in an after-school program like no other. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique.
The Girls on the Run lessons encourage positive emotional, social, mental and physical development. Participants explore and discuss their own beliefs around experiences and challenges girls face at this age. They also develop important strategies and skills to help them navigate life experiences.
Physical activity is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build habits that lead to a lifetime of health. At the end of each three month session, the girls participate in a Girls on the Run 5k event. This celebratory, non-competitive event is the culminating experience of the curriculum. Completing the 5k gives the girls a tangible understanding of the confidence that comes through accomplishment as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. Crossing the finish line is a defining moment when the girls realize that even the seemingly impossible IS possible.
