ORGANIZATION: GIRLS ON THE RUN RHODE ISLAND

  • 21 people are interested

Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. For 8 weeks, trained GOTR Coaches lead small teams of elementary and middle school girls through life skills lessons that incorporate running and other physical activities.
Teams meet twice a week for 90 minutes during after school hours (2:30pm onward). As a GOTR Coach, you will be the impetus for transformational change in your girls and you may even experience a positive change within yourself as well!

Girls on the Run coaches do not need to be elite runners. Any person who lives a healthy lifestyle and is committed to improving the lives of girls can serve as a coach. We are currently accepting applications for Head Coaches (Female, 21 and up); Assistant and Substitute Coaches (Male or Female, 18 and up); and Junior Coaches (male or female, 16-18 years old). Apply today!

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running.

Description

Girls on the Run Rhode Island proudly serves Providence, Bristol, Kent, Newport, and Washington counties and Bristol County in Massachusetts.

Meeting twice a week after-school in small teams of 15 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons that celebrate the joy of movement. The 16-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.
