Each week, the Friends of the Public Library receives 10,000-12,000 items (books, vinyl, DVDs, etc) from both private donations and discards from the Public Library’s vast collection. We, in turn, sell these items through our warehouse/used book store, Friends’ Shop, online, and special sales throughout the year to raise money for special programs and unique purchases at the Library.

We are in need of a volunteer Office Assistant to help with organization, mailings, and other clerical tasks in our administrative offices.

Are you a good fit for this volunteer position? We’re looking for volunteers 16 years and older who are passionate about the programs and services offered through the Public Library of Cincinnati andHamiltonCounty. Our ideal fit possesses: critical thinking skills, ability to read and alphabetize, ability to work independently and in a team environment, basic customer service skills, excellent organizational skills and ability, understanding of filing systems, ability to answer phones in a professional manner, understanding of and ability to coordinate a mailing process, and ability to bend, stoop, reach, and squat in sometimes repetitive motions. Accommodations are made for those who may not meet the listed physical expectations.

When? Volunteers are needed Monday-Thursday, 8am-3pm. Weekly 2-3 hour commitment most needed, but we will work with volunteer schedules on an individual basis.
